Nice to know I'm not "immediate family"

My parents and I spent most of last night fighting about whether or not my sister and I would be allowed to attend the small memorial for Granddad and how we would get there and back. We finally came up with a plan we could all live with that would have us all on the Island for a just a few hours. We made our hotel reservations, and Mikey and I stopped by Wal*Mart after our chiropractic appointment this morning for some 12-hour road trip supplies.

This afternoon, Dad called to let us know that Grandmother had said no to the whole deal. She wants to keep the memorial on Friday "small and simple," which apparently means just my two aunts and their husbands, and my dad.

We'll be at the big memorial this summer. There's talk about going up sometime in the next few weeks to spend some time with Grandmother, but I'm not holding my breath anymore.

On the upside, it means I can make it to CineMark after all. This means I have some serious baking and snack-making to do tomorrow. :D
